LeaderSpark provides all the advice and material necessary for you to run an effective LeaderSpark program. The 12 steps below are sequenced, but some steps will happen concurrently.

12 Steps to GETTING STARTED:

  1. Organize a planning or steering committee to discuss setting up a LeaderSpark Affiliate Program. Be sure to include key "stakeholders."
  2. Define sponsorship roles including recruitment of youth participants, identification and coordination of adult facilitators, and financial/resource support.
  3. Use LeaderSpark marketing materials (including introductory video) and program resources on the LeaderSpark Web site to present LeaderSpark to various audiences (businesses, civic organizations, schools, community groups, youth/families).
  4. Develop a Memorandum of Agreement (written statement) of how the partner sponsoring organizations/groups will work together.
  5. Sign Affiliate Agreement with LeaderSpark which includes a fee schedule for materials and training support.
  6. Designate one or more program coordinator(s) as the key contact person(s).
  7. Program Coordinator(s) work with the LeaderSpark staff and receive advice and support assistance.
  8. Schedule LeaderSpark facilitator training ("Train the Trainer") for your coordinator and facilitators at your site.
  9. Utilize the Coordinator Guidebook for information and forms to help organize and manage your program.
  10. Utilize the Facilitator and Participant Action Guides for an outline and script for volunteers to facilitate LeaderSpark sessions.
  11. Remember your program will benefit from on-going consulting assistance from LeaderSpark through e-mail and telephone contact.
  12. Be sure to give recognition and shared credit to co-sponsors and volunteers.
